So that wonderful summer came to an end.......back to school for me and "O" level exams. I have never forgotten that holiday and those kind friends who let me go with them. One of the ships seen lying at the Hook of Holland was the ss. "Duke of York", and she, a few years earlier had been cut in half by an American freighter "Haiti Victory". among the brave crew who saved the ship, was the late Dick Dale who later became my Father in law.
I dedicate these pages to Bryce Clark, my best school friend who died several years ago.
